What’s next? The art of teasing
by James VanOsdol | September 8, 2015
If you want your listeners to come back for the next episode, give them a reason.
Always be thinking ahead about what the next 2-5 shows might include (guests, topics, features). Tease what’s coming up to generate anticipation, but don’t just read off a list.
Let’s say you have three things coming up you want to tease:
- Dr. Bob Bobson, pet expert
- Rock Band X
- Actress Lisa Leeson
Simply rattling off the names isn’t enough to get people excited. Consider the art of the tease:
- Ever wonder what your pets do while you’re at work? Dr. Bob Bobson will be coming on to talk about the secret lives of pets on the next episode.
- One of the best underground bands in Portland plays an exclusive set, just for this show. Hear them here before all your friends start talking about them!
- Critics say she’s total “Emmy bait” for her performance in “The TV Show.” Actress Lisa Leeson will be checking in from location in London.
